Spring is in the air!

Good afternoon!

It's been a while. Lots has happened!

Two weeks ago we were back in MI for a few short days, visiting with family. It was nice and relaxing. Gabe was in town as well, and we spent some quality time together and with mom. It was great. Amanda and I drove to and fro, which was long and arduous, but worth it in the end as it's relatively cheap and then we have a vehicle while we're there. Mom's doing well.

Last week, Tuesday, I went to George Mason University to watch Mikhail Gorbachev speak. It was very interesting. He spoke about his time in office and the end of communism in Russia. He spoke about Russia-US relations briefly and talked about the future, noting the importance of diplomacy as opposed to force, the deteriorating environment, and the importance of the G20 and United Nations.

Just this week we signed a lease for a new condo. We're moving in about 3 weeks. It's a much nicer place than where we live now. It's more expensive, but the location alone makes it worth it. As an added bonus, there's more space. It's a 2 bedroom, 2.5 bathrooms, 1700 sq ft condo in a very nice neighborhood. We'll even have an attached 1 car garage. I'm not looking forward to physically moving, but once that's done and we're unpacked, I think we'll be much happier. It's in the same general area, so it's still a good location right between mine and Amanda's offices.

The Cherry Blossom trees are in full bloom and it's gorgeous around here. It's been raining daily all week, but it's warming up. It's been in the 60s all week, I think. As it's raining, I don't spend much time outside, but it's nice to have the windows open. Hopefully Amanda and I will make it into the city to see the main concentration of cherry blossom trees around the Jefferson Memorial, though it's packed with tourists this time of year. It's very beautiful, but the entire scene is ruined by the tens of thousands of people crowding to see the trees.

Work is going well. Our quarter just ended and I did great. I started my six-month promotion cycle. Assuming all goes well, I'll be promoted in 6 months and can start working from home. I'm looking forward to that. As we have a year lease in the new condo, we'll be in Virginia at least until next May, but after that, who knows? Maybe we'll move back to MI. That's been the plan all along, but it depends on work. We're just taking things a day at a time.

That's all I have time for now. Take care and enjoy spring!
