July!
Good afternoon everyone!
So many little things have happened since I last wrote, I don't even know what I should begin.
Qbert died. Our poor poor little gray dwarf hamster. He was a great hamster and it really is for the best that he finally kicked the bucket, as they say. For the past couple weeks he's been going downhill very quickly. He lost a ton of weight (as much as could be expected of a hamster) and his eyes started having problems. We're convinced that by the end he was completely blind. One of his eyes was swollen completely shut for several days, and after that started to get better, the other eye started bulging a lot. We were concerned as one of amanda's classmates at MSU had a hamster with the same situation, except his poor hamsters eyes popped out of his head! I couldn't stand to have qbert like that... we were out shopping the day that he passed away, and on the drive home we were talking about taking him to the vet and having him put down, but by the time we got home he had already died. It was for the best. It wasn't a surprise but it was still sad, he was a good hammy.
Amanda has a job, I don't know if I wrote that since the last time. She's a legal secretary at a very large law firm in the area. She's doing very well already and I truly believe she'll be promoted before long. She's not sure which way she's going to go in the company, but I imagine that she'll be a paralegal before long. She has the skills required and we think the higher ups are noticing already. She works with two attorneys right now, but just yesterday there was discussion of her picking up a third. Increasing her workload by 33% after just one month! I'm sure she'll welcome whatever happens.
My job is going well. It's a very complicated job, and it's very difficult at times but I enjoy it. Here at the PTO they have this new program that gives laptop computers to the examiners. It's fairly new, so I had to wait a few months to get mine, but I finally did last tuesday! It's great, it allows me to log onto my workstation in the office from home! I have to work my 80 hours of the biweek in the office, but I can do any overtime at home. This is going to be so great! It's going to allow me to do extra cases from the comfort of our couch while earning a lot of extra money! That's the idea anyway...we'll see. I can't really work too much overtime, since I have to use all my time and any extra time trying to do my regular allotted work in the first place! I'm getting better all the time and before I know it I'll be working full overtime every biweek!
Amanda is doing well, as our the new boys. I dont' have any pictures of them on this computer so I won't be able to post pictures this post, but I will, maybe on the next post.
We had our friends Paul and Jesselle, and their son Jet, over for the fourth of july. That was a blast, we had a ton of food and just enjoyed the company. A few weekends later we were over at their place and amanda was exposed to the nintendo Wii game system. She loved it! We wanted to buy one right away but they're sold out everywhere around the DC area! Luckily she has such a nice family that they went to Meijer in Dewitt and bought one and shipped it to us! I'm fairly excited to get home tonight, since it arrived in the mail today. Amanda said she got it at work at about 11am! We're both very excited!
I imagine there's more to talk about that I'm forgetting, but I only wanted to take ten minutes to update while I'm at work. I'll get back to that and hopefully write more soon!
Take care!
