Happy Turkey Day!
Well hello! It's been a while, I suppose. Thanksgiving was a blast! Amanda and I drove back to MI for the holiday with a friend of ours, Rory. He and I went to college together and he's the one that got me the job at the patent office. It was a great trip, the only downside was the drive, as could be expected. :) There was a lot of traffic in the DC area, so just trying to get away from the city was a pain. The rest of the trip was uneventful, and we arrived to Amanda's parents house, after dropping Rory at his parents, at about 3:00am! Early...late...whichever, I know, but it was nice then. We left Tuesday night so we were able to have a whole day on Wednesday. We had a nice dinner with her family, then went over to amanda's aunt and uncles house for dessert. That was fun too.
Friday we headed up to Saginaw to spend time with Mom. It was our first time seeing the new house, so that was real nice. It's a beautiful home! I'm so very jealous. It was very nice though, Mom made great meals while we were there and it was nice to just talk and catch up over the course of a day and a half. We discussed wedding stuff and all the family happenings, it was wonderful. It only could have been better if Gabe and Granpda were in town, but it was very nice to see Mom.
The drive home was decent, we took a route we had never taken before, which turned out to work fairly well. We added almost 100 miles to our trip, but we avoided the busy toll roads through Ohio and Pennsylvania, which means we missed the returning traffic almost completely.
Amanda and I got the keys to our new townhouse. We're still only renting, but this will give us a lot more space and freedom than our small apartment. We're in the middle of painting the walls on the main floor, so that's a chore, but it's going to look great and be worth it in the end.
It's almost Christmas time! That means another trip back to MI, although, I think we're going to be flying home this time. I'm excited about that too, not having to drive back is going to be great. Another few days of relaxation is exactly what I need to break up this end of the year.
Work is going well, hopefully I'll get another promotion in the next few months. That's about it, working hard, planning the holidays, the wedding and our move is basically the only thing there's time for! :) I'll keep you updated...
Until then,
JMB
